Kuntry Kids hosts Teen Leadership Summit

HATTIESBURG, MS (August 17, 2016) – On September 17, 2016 at 9AM Kuntry Kidz, Inc. will host the 4th Annual Kuntry Kidz Teen Leadership Summit (KKTLS) at Lake Terrace Convention Center, located 1 Convention Center Plaza, Hattiesburg, MS 39401. This year's theme is "Breakout-Breaking through obstacles to unlimited potential." The free event will feature a number of highly-engaging workshops including a youth town hall discussion –"The Protected and the Protector" an open discussion with teens, law enforcement and community. Lunch will be provided for attendees. The summit closes out each year with step show competition by local teen auxiliary groups and step performances by college sororities and fraternities. 

This year's workshop topics will include careers, youth and mental health, financial aid & college readiness, leadership, and life skills. KKTLS will allow youth to become active participants in creating positive social change in their communities through the workshops. Workshops will also be available for all adults who attend. "Through the Kuntry Kidz Teen Leadership Summit, we continue to expose middle and high school students to unique opportunities that provide a different outlook on community leadership, personal growth, and career choices" said Founder of Kuntry Kidz Teen Leadership Summit. "Our goal is to develop well-rounded youth who are equipped with the tools needed to become successful leaders in our community."

    A pair of suspects are behind bars after an apparent drug deal went bad at a Hub City motel.  Hattiesburg police responded to the Deluxe Inn at 900 Broadway Drive for a report of a robbery.  “As officers were conducting their investigation, it was determined that the victim and suspect would both be charged,” said Hattiesburg Police Capt.     A Hattiesburg man is behind bars after a Thursday night stabbing injured one in the Hub City. Louis Mahea, 52, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after an incident that happened at 706 Milton Barnes Avenue. According to Hattiesburg Police Capt. Branden McLemore, officers were dispatched to a reported stabbing around 10 p.m. Thursday night.
