HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hundreds of people took a trip to Paul B. Johnson State Park to spend their Labor Day weekend.

Several people cooked ribs on the grill and brought green beans, coleslaw and other food items.

"We marinated it, put it on the grill and it turned out good," Carolyn Banks said.

Others like Robert Reed enjoyed having an extra day off from work.

"Just to rest your muscles after work this is Labor Day just a day to eat and relax," Reed said.

Reed and his family look forward to spending time with friends and family for labor day each year.

"It's great fun the family comes together to have just clean fun," Reed said.

Teenagers like Kate Sanford are excited to get an extra day off from school. During her time off she went jet skiing and tubing with her friends.

"Riding the boat, eating burger and chicken and tubing and jet skiing," Sanford said.

For parents, Labor Day weekend at Paul B. Johnson State Park is just another excuse to spend time outside.

"Just having fun with the kids and having fun on the water and being away from home," Ken Dobson said.

Overall, people said the best part is just relaxing with friends and family before they have to start work Tuesday.
