HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg police are asking for the public's help in identifying the female victim in Saturday's death investigation.
The woman was discovered deceased in a wooded area off Xavier Street, behind the Hattiesburg Public Schools Administrative Offices around 10:45 a.m.
According to Hattiesburg Police Lt. Detective Branden McLemore, the woman did not have an identification on her.
"We are asking the public to help, if you know someone who is missing, or you haven't seen and should have, if you would call the police department or crime stoppers," McLemore said.
According to Forrest County Deputy Coroner Jonathan Nobles, the white female is believed to be in her mid to late 40's, approximately 5 ft 4 inches tall, light brown eyes, dark brown hair just above the shoulders (light brown at one time), approximately 230 lbs. and she wore an elastic knee brace on her left knee.
"This is someone's daughter, possibly sister, cousin or mother, she was someone's friend and we need help identifying her," Nobles said.
Nobles added that the body has been sent to Mississippi Crime Lab in Jackson for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
