FORREST COUNTY (WDAM) - The Mississippi National Guard will have a new leader on Thursday.
Brig. Gen. Janson D. "Durr" Boyles will take over as Mississippi's adjutant general.
He will replace Maj. Gen. Augustus L. Collins, who is retiring after 35 years in the Army and four and a half years as the state's top National Guard officer.
A change of command ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Mississippi National Guard Joint Force Headquarters in Jackson.
Before the ceremony, Boyles will be promoted to Major General and Collins will receive a state promotion to Lieutenant General (MS).
Activities will also include a retirement ceremony for Collins.
