HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A Hattiesburg ministry that's helped thousands of people in need is celebrating three decades of service.
Christian Services, Inc. is turning 30 and Tuesday night, founders Bill and Cookie Prout thanked volunteers and supporters at an annual banquet at Southern Oaks House & Gardens.
The organization serves or delivers more than 800 meals a day, five days a week.
It also operates a men's ministry in Ellisville and hosts outreach events throughout the year.
"What we hope is that something we've done, something we've said, has encouraged them, given them new hope," Bill Prout said.
Cookie Prout said, "From the beginning our message was, and is, God loves you, he has a purpose for you, you are worth something."
The ministry began with home delivery of food in 1986.
