2 charged in connection to Walthall Co. murder

WALTHALL COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Two people have been arrested and charged in connection to a murder that happened in Walthall County on Aug. 5.

According to the Walthall County Sheriff’s Office, Alonza Glen Mays was found facedown in a ditch off Firetower Road in Tylertown.

Ashley Alford of Jayess was initially charged with burglary of a vehicle and felony possession of a firearm. On Tuesday, the additional charge added was accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.

Donnifer Peters of Tylertown was charged with first-degree murder.

According to the sheriff’s office, as the investigation progresses, there may be additional charges.

    Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
