HATTIESBURG, MS - People danced the night away at the Hattiesburg's Havana Nights fundraiser Saturday night.
The event took place at the Hattiesburg Cultural Center with dancing, food and live music. The fundraiser will raise money for more smART space programs offered through the Hattiesburg Arts Council.
These programs offer children a chance to learn about music, arts and writing. Executive Director of the Hattiesburg Arts Council Rebekah Stark Johnson said it's great to have the community supporting the arts.
"We have an amazing amount of talent in our town and every time we do something, that brings the spirits up and lifts people, especially the children," Johnson said. "They need to express themselves and be themselves."
The fundraiser was organized by the Leadership Pine Belt Group. Each year the group chooses a project to create a positive impact on the city of Hattiesburg.
