MT. OLIVE, MS (WDAM) -

"Fly high, Savannah. Gone but never forgotten."

That was the message Cody Harvey wanted to send after one of his classmates died in a car accident in Mt. Olive earlier this week.

The Mt. Olive Community has been shaken ever since 15-year-old Savannah Powell died after an 18-wheeler struck the car her sister was driving.

Savannah died from her injuries, but her sister was released from the hospital.

Harvey posted a video to Facebook with a song he sang in honor of his friend.

"Mt. Olive lost a very good friend to each and every one of us," Harvey said in his video. "She was taken at a very young age. We aren't promised tomorrow, none of us."

Harvey said in his Facebook post that he sang the song "What does it look like in heaven" for Savannah and the rest of her family.

The lyrics are as followed:

"Tell me what does it look like in heaven?

Is it peaceful, is it free like they say?

Is the sun shining bright forever?

Have your fears and your pain gone away?

Cause here on earth it feels like everything good is missing since you left

And here on earth everything is different, there is an emptiness

I hope you are dancing in the sky

I  hope you are singing in the angel's choir

I hope the angels know what they have

Bet it is so nice in heaven since you are around

So tell me what do you do up in heaven?

Are your days filled with love and life?

Is there music? Tell me are you happy?

Cause here on earth it feels like everything good is missing since you left

And here on earth everything is different, there is an emptiness

I hope you are dancing in the sky

I  hope you are singing in the angel's choir

I hope the angels know what they have

Bet it is so nice in heaven since you are around, since you are around"

The video has been viewed over 17,000 and shared nearly 900 times.

You can watch Cody sing the song on Facebook here:

Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
