PINE BELT (WDAM) -

The Greater Pine Belt Community Foundation made a charitable donation of $4,000 to the United Way of Southeast MS. 

The Bob James United Way Endowment Fund was created by James’ widow, Gwen James, in 2001.

Gwen established the fund in memory her husband, Bob James, who had a passion for the work of the local United Way. 

This endowment fund will support the operations of our local United Way, forever.

In attendance were the United Way of Southeast Mississippi Board of Directors, David Fortenberry, president of the Greater Pine Belt Community Foundation and son of Bob James, Theresa Erickson, executive director of the Greater Pine Belt Community Foundation and Tracie Fowler, president/CEO of the United Way of Southeast MS.

According to Lance Chancellor with the Powers Fire Department, the blaze sparked in the 150th block of Jordan Drive just before five, Monday morning. Officials ask you to avoid the area until the fire is under control. Chancellor said five different stations responded to fight the fire.
