Brittney Reese advances to women’s long jump final

RIO DE JANEIRO - Brittney Reese, a Gulfport native, advanced to the women's long jump final in the Olympics Tuesday night.

Reese finished third with her first jump of 6.78 meters.

She goes for back-to-back gold Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. on NBC.

Reese won gold in the women's long jump at the 2012 Summer Games in London with a jump of 7.12 meters.

Reese is a Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and Ole Miss graduate.
