COLLINS, MS (WDAM) -

Representatives of the Collins Fire Department and other agencies will be heading to Louisiana Saturday with a truckload of donated supplies for flood victims.

They will bring items such as non-perishable food, water, diapers, pet supplies, cleaning supplies, toys, games and other items for flood victims.

Items are being collected at the Number One Fire Station in downtown Collins.

Other pickup sites include the Seminary Police Department and Seminary Town Hall, Boswell Regional Center in Magee and Presbyterian Christian School in Hattiesburg.

Several other banks and businesses in Collins and Seminary will also accept donations.

"I don't look at it like it's just cleaning supplies, or it's just a bag of dog food or it's just a bottle of bleach or a canned food item or something," said John Pope, chief of the Collins Fire Department. "That's substance to that person that in that time, they may not have, so many of these people lost everything. They don't have anything to go back home to."

If you would like to donate items, you can call 601-765-5110 or 601-467-5174. Or you can send an email to collinscity96853@bellsouth.net.
