HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - There a new program at Southern Miss aimed to help people in the military.
Textbooks for Troops is an initiative that can help enrolled military students with textbooks that may not be covered by a gap from financial aid.
Those eligible are veterans, service members and even family members on military affiliated benefits.
The Center for Military Veterans located on campus will maintain the books and loan them out for the semester to those students who need them.
[endif]Alumni can also help by donating to the program.
"This Textbooks for Troops program is the perfect opportunity for you to have 100 control in how your donations might be spent into a well deserving cause," said Michael Mcgee with USM Center for Military Veterans.
Students have to meet certain criteria, such as a 2.5 GPA.
