NEW AUGUSTA, MS (WDAM) - About a dozen employers from around the Pine Belt gathered for a job fair and the community center in New Augusta Thursday.
Area Development Partnership hosted the job fair, the WIN Job Center and the SMPDD (South Mississippi Planning and Development District).
Exhibiting businesses were seeking all types of skill sets from entry level to highly skilled applicants.
Job seekers from around the area could potentially gain employment by dropping of a resume speaking with employers from places such as Hood Industries, Mississippi Power and Coca-Cola.
"We are no longer the unemployment office, we are the employment office, we are here to help the public. There's job out there for those that are job seeking," said Connie Valentine, WIN Job Center director.
Daniel Jayroe, ADP community development director, said, "Right now the unemployment rate for the Hattiesburg MSA is 4.6 percent, which is fantastic. It's the lowest it's been in 12 years and also lower than the state average. I'm so excited to bring these employers to the Perry county community so they don't have to get too far to try to find the jobs that they need."
The next ADP job fair is coming up on Aug. 23 at the Lamar County Multi-Purpose Center in Purvis.
