SUMRALL, MS (WDAM) - The city of Sumrall held its own law enforcement appreciation luncheon to Thursday at city hall.
Nearly 100 people gathered for the brown bag event to say thanks to law officials who put their lives on the line to protect and serve the citizens of Sumrall.
The citizens also chipped in with donations to help make the luncheon possible.
Sumrall Mayor Gerolene Rayborn said she knows that it is a dangerous job and is glad to say thanks.
"There has been so much tragedy in our United States and everywhere, we just wanted to show our appreciation to our police officers and our lawmen," Rayborn said. "A lot of them live here and they protect us. It's good to have these police cars and highway patrol cars in our area you know."
The city was able to buy about a dozen or more blue and black flags that said "We Support Our Police" and hung them on the city streets to show support of law enforcement.
