PRENTISS, MS (WDAM) - Inside of a large warehouse in Prentiss is the social movement that has everyone talking.

That social movement is Tiny Houses.

The average size of a home is over 2,000 square feet. The average size of a tiny house is just under 400 square feet.

Tiny House-Life Space owner James Polk has had a passion for tiny houses for over 20 years, and he spoke about why so many people are downsizing.

"We went through a wave in the 1990's of mansions built bigger, bigger, bigger and people found out that they were paying for buildings that they don't live in and they can't keep up" said Polk.

Polk is also grateful for the exposure that tiny houses are getting.

"We're just trying to get the word out. It's a very popular concept and it's something that I've been working on for 20 plus years and now here it is and I'm really happy that the word is getting out".

It's a small concept that's making big strides.
