JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The cause of death for a 4-year-old Jeff Davis County boy has been determined.
According to Jeff Davis County Sheriff's Department investigators, the cause of death was ruled blunt force trauma.
The full autopsy results will be released at a later date.
The Jeff Davis County coroner confirmed 4-year-old Messiah Griffith was killed at a home on Black Polk Road in Prentiss Friday.
Belton Sims, 25, was charged with the murder of his son Messiah, according to Jefferson Davis Sheriff Ron Strickland.
According to Strickland, Sims picked up his son from his grandmother's house and took him back to his home.
Sims assaulted Griffith, giving the boy multiple bruises, Strickland said. Sims then took Griffith to the Jefferson Davis Community hospital, where Griffith was pronounced dead.
Sims was given no bond during his initial appearance.
