JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Petal man was arrested for receiving stolen property over the weekend.

On Sunday, Jermey Palmer, 32, was taken into custody and transported to the Jones County Adult Detention Center.

Palmer was charged with receiving stolen property, which is a felony. He will make his initial appearance in court Monday afternoon.

According to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a caller about a suspicious vehicle on Dale Keys Road Sunday. According to the caller, the vehicle matched the description of a stolen Chevy Silverado seen on Facebook.

According to JCSD, when the deputy arrived to Dale Keys Road, the truck was no longer there. The deputy kept patrolling nearby roads and found the truck matching the description and the tag number.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop, Palmer was the driver of the truck. Palmer told the deputy that the vehicle wasn’t his and that it belonged to a friend, according to JCSD.

After an on-site investigation, deputies determined that the vehicle was registered to someone else and that it was reported stolen from Forrest County.
