FORREST COUNTY (WDAM) - A corrections officer at the Forrest County Regional Jail has been arrested and charged with bringing contraband into the jail.

Jonathan Gray, 34 of Hattiesburg, was arrested and charged Monday morning with bringing contraband into the jail.

"It was brought to our attention that Jonathan Gray was bringing in contraband in to the Forrest County Regional Jail," Forrest County Sheriff's Department Investigator Nick Calico said. "He was caught with contraband in his possession and at that point, we charged him."

Calico could not disclose the type of "contraband" that was introduced to the jail.

"It is anything that is illegal, anything that cannot be brought into a correctional facility," Calico said.

According to Forrest County Sheriff Billy McGee, the employee will be terminated.

Gray is currently being housed in the Forrest County Jail where he is awaiting his initial appearance, and the investigation is ongoing, according to Calico.
