LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Democratic candidate for this year's 4th District congressional race campaigned in Hattiesburg Saturday.
Mark Gladney is a first-time candidate for public office, but he served 27 years in the U.S. Army.
He's a helicopter pilot and a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi.
He met fellow Democrats during a luncheon at Bianchi's Pizza.
"I belive in human capital over money capital," Gladney said. "I believe that if we give better opportunities to all Mississippians, regardless of who they are or where they're from, that we can make this state what it needs to be and we can get this district going in the right way again."
Gladney lives on the Gulf Coast, but his parents live in Petal.
He will face incumbent Republican Steven Palazzo in November.
