Victims identified in Wayne County murder-suicide

WAYNE COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The two victims of the murder-suicide are identified as John Cochran and his wife Paula Cochran according to Sheriff Jody Ashley. 

Around 2 p.m. Saturday Wayne County authorities responded to a possible murder-suicide.

Ashley said a man shot his wife and then himself at 347 Big Creek Road in the Clara community. Ashley said when he arrived to the scene John Cochran was still alive.  Authorities tried to negotiate with John Cochran but he refused to come outside his home and ended up taking his own life. The couple is reported to have been going through a divorce.
