COVINGTON COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Tuesday shooting in Covington County injured one and landed two others behind bars.
The shooting happened at the intersection of Highway 49 and 35 in Covington County.
"There was two vehicles stopped at the red light at the intersection, one of the men got out and walked up to the car in front of him, and he fired five rounds, striking the victim once in the shoulder," said Covington County Sheriff Stann Smith.
Smith said after the shooting the men fled the scene and after a short manhunt they were apprehended.
Thomas Lee, 48, is charged was with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle.
Adam Branton, 27, is charged with two counts of accessory.
"The whole ordeal appears to be over a land dispute of some kind," said Smith. "The victim that was hit once was treated and released from the hospital later that night."
Smith said the matter is still under investigation.
