JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Three men are behind bars and facing drug charges after Jones County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop Wednesday.

David Laphand, 33 of Quitman, Anthony Johnson, 19 of Stonewall and Bobby Stokes, 38 of Stonewall were pulled over by JCSD’s Crime Suppression unit on I-59.

As deputies conducted the traffic stop, they found a weapon in Laphand’s back pocket and a bag of what is believed to be 125 ecstasy tablets in his front pocket, according to a JCSD press release.

After a K-9 was alerted to the vehicle, deputies found one pound of marijuana and 1.7 grams of what is believed to be cocaine. According to authorities, the total street value of the narcotics is about $20,500.

Deputies found one additional weapon in the car, and determined that the weapon found on Laphand was stolen from Clarke County. According to the press release, the three men were arrested and taken to the Jones County Adult Detention Center.

Laphand, Johnson and Stokes were all arrested and charged with three counts each of possession of controlled substance with intent.

According to a press release, Laphand is also charged with possession of a stolen firearm, and Johnson is charged with introduction of contraband into a Corrections Facility. Further charges are pending, according to authorities.

The three men will make their initial appearances in court Friday morning at Jones County Justice Court.
