FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg business on Highway 49 was burglarized over the weekend.

According to the owner of Magic City Mobile Homes, he was burglarized between noon Sunday and early Monday morning. Employees returned to work Monday morning to find the glass from the back patio door had been shattered to gain entrance and the business had been ransacked.

Items taken were guns, knives and computers and the thieves destroyed the security system along with the phone lines.

Owner Larry Hathorne said that the area has seen a spike in burglaries in the past few months.

“Now I’ve got three men and two women trying to clean this back up and I’m trying to get the telephone company out here so we can go back to work,” Hathorne said. “I’m still in the mobile home business, I still appreciate the people and there is a reward for anyone giving information of who tore this place up, to the sheriff’s department.”

Just two weeks before this burglary, Hathorne had a 25 horsepower outboard motor stolen from another location. He said that other businesses have been burglarized as well.

If you have any information about the burglary of Magic City Mobile Homes, please call the Forrest County Sheriff’s Department.
