Starkville's Mary Elizabeth Stringer crowned Miss Hospitality 2016

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A 21-year-old kinesiology major at Mississippi State University is Mississippi's new Miss Hospitality.

Mary Elizabeth Stringer, who's also a native of Starkville, won the title at the 67th annual pageant in Hattiesburg Saturday night.

She'll now travel around Mississippi and the country promoting tourism and economic development for the next year.

A total of 27 contestants from around the state participated in the pageant.

Lydia Myers, of Laurel, was crowned the first runner-up.

The theme this year was "Destination Hospitality."
