HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A fundraiser in Hattiesburg raised money Saturday afternoon for the Hattiesburg Police and Fire Department.

The St. Joseph Hospice held a Superhero Day Touch-A-Touch event at Java Werks Coffee house. The event was meant to recognize the local superheroes in law enforcement like the police, fire fighters and other emergency responders. The fundraiser also had a moment of silence to pray for law enforcement officers around the nation.

“We think it’s important to take the time to pause, lift them up in prayer and pray for our country,” said St. Joseph Community Outreach Coordinator John Pace.

The money raised will go to the Hattiesburg Police and Fire Department's benevolent fund.
