LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

Next week, Laurel and Hattiesburg will go head-to-head to see who can draw the most blood in the Pine Belt for the United Blood Services Blood Bowl Bash.

Reigning Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee is confident his city will again donate the most blood this year.

Magee challenged Hattiesburg Mayor’s DuPree statement on the Blood Bowl Bash with a few reassuring words.

In Magee’s statement,

“The people of Laurel we are gentle souls. We love to help other people. We are always volunteering we're always doing things unlike our friends in Hattiesburg.”

United Blood Services is experiencing an unusual decline in blood donations this summer.  Community members are urged to make it a priority to donate for your town’s blood bowl bash blood drive.

Residents can donate at the WDAM Hattiesburg Blood Bowl Bash on Tuesday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to 7 a.m. at Ashley Home Store, located at Hwy 98 West, Hattiesburg.

Laurel residents can donate at the Cameron Center the same day.
