Southern Miss Trombone Choir to Perform at DCI Event July 27

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The following is a news release from The University of Southern Mississippi

Prior to the 2016 Drum Corps International Tour performance at M.M. Roberts Stadium on July 27 at 7 p.m., The University of Southern Mississippi Trombone Choir will be joined by School of Music alumni to perform the National Anthem.

Organized by faculty member Dr. Ben McIlwain, 28 alumni and current students of the Southern Miss trombone studio will perform a special arrangement of the anthem by former director of The Pride of Mississippi Marching Band, Dr. Roderick A. Harkins, who dedicated it to retired professor of trombone, Dr. Marta Hofacre.

    Two Ellisville men were arrested after a trailer containing lawn equipment they are accused of stealing was impounded by the Pascagoula Police Department.  Jones County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a larceny complaint on April 19, on Township Road in Jones County after a victim said his lawn equipment was stolen, according to a Jones County Sheriff's Dept. press release.     A Hattiesburg man is accused of choking his wife and then leaving her at a local hospital. Hattiesburg Police responded to a local hospital in reference to the domestic assault Monday morning.  According to HPD Spokesman Ryan Moore, the victim stated her husband choked her, and then drove her to the hospital and left around 5:30 a.m. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later discharged, Moore said.
