HATTIESBURG, MS -

New businesses that recently opened up in Hattiesburg are offering unique services for customers.

The Hub City Beers and Fine Cigars store offers over 200 different types of beers from across the state and gives customers the chance to buy one beer at a time.

“People can make a pick six and not necessarily have a whole six pack and try something new out of their normal realm,” said Hub City Beers employee Willie Dixon.

The store also sells cigars and Southern Prohibition soap. The store has been open for about two months now, and Dixon said the store has seen a positive reaction from the community.

“We’re staying steady people around here like to support local businesses and as of now we are doing pretty good,” Dixon said.

Moving farther downtown, people were stopping by Jazmo's Bodega to enjoy pork sandwiches.

“Downtown needs a one-stop shop somewhere that is convenient for everybody,” said store owner Trey Sullivan. “Most of my clientele are professional people, and I wanted to create a professional environment.”

Sullivan's idea was to make a corner store for Downtown so people can get coffee, grab a beer or even listen to live music on the weekend.

“Like I said it’s something I’ve been working on for a long time, something I’ve prayed about and I’m just glad to be here," Sullivan said.

On Fridays and Saturdays the store offers food on the grill like steak sandwiches, ribs and pulled pork sandwiches. The store also hosts live music from local artists from 3-6 p.m.

A new nightclub called Project Z will also open downtown on July 30 on East Front Street.
