LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Law enforcement and state child services officials have been working with a new group, which helps children suffering from abuse.

That organization is called the Kid's Hub Child Advocacy Center and it celebrated its one-year anniversary Thursday afternoon.

The group does forensic interviews with children and provides victim advocacy services to kids up to age 18.

It works with officials in Lamar, Forrest, Marion and Pearl River Counties.

"When we do the interviews, we do a full assessment, so we want to know about all the child's experiences and then, we want to able to make some mental health and medical recommendations accordingly," said Didi Ellis, executive director of the Kid's Hub. "But, law enforcement and (Department of Human Services) are present when those interviews take place, so they do use it to aid in their investigations."

Donations help fund the organization, and it just received its first federal grant.
