HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - William Carey University used its best effort to bridge communication with law enforcement in a luncheon Wednesday afternoon.
The university invited the Forrest County Sheriff's Department and the Hattiesburg Police Department to eat lunch on campus.
Food Coordinator Dale McVeay talked about the importance of good communication.
"It's great to have that one-on-one contact and to know these guys by name," McVeay said. "I'm very happy that they're here on campus. We welcome them every single day, we enjoy their presence, we think it's a good thing, and we like to support them anyway we can."
Forrest County Sheriff Billy McGee attended the luncheon and spoke about the support given by the university.
"We're certainly appreciative of the university for inviting us out to lunch to show their appreciation for law enforcement and Forrest County," McGee said.
