1 in custody following Hub City's 6th homicide

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A suspect has been charged in Hattiesburg's sixth homicide of 2016, which occurred late Saturday night.

Taiwan Blakely, 25, of Hattiesburg, turned himself in and is now charged with the murder of Larita Dewberry, 26.

Dewberry was found in her vehicle at 3901 West 4th Street suffering from a gunshot wound.

"It appears that she suffered from a gunshot wound, but we are sending the body to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy," said Forrest County Deputy Coroner Jonathan Nobles.

Officers and the Hattiesburg Crime Scene Unit worked the scene where the vehicle was backed into a parking spot on 4th Street.
