SUMRALL, MS (WDAM) - Bond has been set for the Sumrall man charged with murder in connection with a homicide investigation.
Donald King, Jr., 35, is charged in the shooting death of Kimberly Lucus-Raynes, who was found dead outside a home in Sumrall.
King made his initial appearance in court Friday where a judge set his bond at $250,000.
King was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
A Wednesday night death investigation in Sumrall has now been ruled a homicide.
Kimberly Lucus-Raynes, 44, was found deceased outside a home at 11 Mulberry Street in Sumrall.
The body was sent to the state crime lab in Jackson, and the preliminary autopsy showed that Raynes died from a single gunshot wound.
According to Sumrall Police Chief Chris Dungan, the call came in just after 5 p.m. and the caller stated a woman was on the porch of the home on Mulberry St.
Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and investigators from the 15th District Attorney's Office were called in to assist the Sumrall Police with the investigation.
According to investigators, the home on Mulberry Street was not the residence of Raynes.
Investigators were unable to determine the cause of death at the scene Wednesday night, and were waiting on autopsy results to classify the death.
