MISSISSIPPI (WDAM) -

Netflix will roll out a six-part documentary series featuring a place familiar to Mississippians, but a place most people haven’t heard of in the U.S.

In the small town of Scooba, “Last Chance U” is centered on the East Mississippi Community College football team and its successful junior college football program.

The Pirates have won three national titles alone and has consistently sent players to Division I programs.

The streaming service took notice after GQ wrote an article with the same title, and Netflix just released the trailer for the documentary that will premiere July 29.

The trailer follows EMCC through its 2015 season and highlights how players transform from “troublemakers to playmakers.”

“Last Chance U” also focuses on the controversy that surrounds the team, including coach Buddy Stephens punching a game administrator.

The season ended in heartbreak after a big brawl in the quarterfinals that cost the team its chance at a second consecutive national championships.
