JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Jones County woman has been charged with domestic assault after an incident on Sunday night.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence at Windsor Court after a disturbance call was placed.
When deputies arrived, Dolkeilya Crumbly, 36 of Laurel, said her ex-boyfriend Damarius Cooley, 23 of Laurel, assaulted her.
According to the sheriff, she also said that he drove his vehicle into her car.
While deputies went to search for Cooley, they were given word that he was injured.
When deputies found Cooley driving his vehicle, he refused to stop and eventually abandoned his car to run into a wooded area.
Once apprehended, deputies noticed a severe cut on Cooley's hand.
Cooley told authorities that Crumbly cut him with a knife on his hand and upper chest.
Cooley was treated for his condition at a local hospital. Deputies returned to Crumbly's residence, saw no sign of assault, and arrested her for domestic aggravated assault.
Cooley was charged with misdemeanor leaving the scene unattended, and resisting arrest.
Crumbly's initial appearance is scheduled at Jones County Justice Court Tuesday afternoon.
