Emergency officials are urging motorist to use caution when traveling south bound on Highway 49 in Covington County.
“We had a tanker truck that was traveling southbound on 49 and it appears to have been leaking or spilled oil of some kind along the highway,” said Seminary Police Chief Michael Kelly.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation issued an alert for motorist, saying the right lane of southbound Highway 49 is affected by the spill.
“MDOT crews are on the way to the scene to help clear up the roadways, and there are areas from Collins all the way to the Forrest County line that are affected,” Kelly said.
