HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

It is almost time for students to head back to school, but before the buses get rolling, parents will head to the stores to gather supplies.

The cost of supplies can add up, and parents can expect to pay big bucks to fill their children’s backpacks.

WDAM gathered supply lists from NR Burger Middle School, Petal Middle School and Oak Grove Middle School to see how it can add up.

NR Burger Middle School in Hattiesburg has the least amount of supplies of all the school we looked at. They are asking for the basics including No. 2 pencils, colored pencils and other essentials. Overall, when parents fill out this list, they will only spend around $55.

The Petal Middle School supply list is a little bit more extensive. The list includes binders, sheet protectors, and cap erasers. When parents finish gathering supplies and paying fees, they will spend at least $125.

Rounding out our list is Oak Grove Middle School.

Its list consists of basic supplies, but at the bottom of the list it shows fees for science and technology.

If you add up the supplies with the fees, parents are looking at spending up to $160.
