HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The University of Southern Mississippi's Center for Military Veterans, Service Members and Families is displaying a limited edition painting from a noted Delta artist.

It is a watercolor print, depicting activity at a military flying school in Clarksdale during World War II.

It was painted by Greenwood artist Allan Hammons.

It has been donated to the center by USM alumnus Robert Ingram.

"I've always been a big supporter of the military, I served in the Mississippi Army National Guard some years ago and so to have it here in a place that's special to veterans is special to me," Hammons said.

Doug Robinson, the center's veteran outreach coordinator, said, "We appreciate any donation that comes from anybody and Mr. Hammons was gracious enough to donate a really fantastic, one-of-a-kind piece of artwork."

The center also received another donation.

It is a new drop box for damaged or old American flags.

It was donated to the center by Jamie Nance of Decatur.
