HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

This is an editorial by WDAM General Manager Jama Killingsworth

The Hattiesburg Public School District recently named Dr. Janice Johnson as the new superintendent.  WDAM joins the entire community in welcoming Dr. Johnson to the area.

She comes from the Biloxi Public School District, a district nationally recognized for excellence.

Dr. Johnson was a 2015 recipient of the State Leadership Award given by the state’s Federal Program Directors.

Her experience and leadership skills will serve the District and the community well.

Dr. Johnson has identified this year’s priorities as student achievement and spending within the District’s budget.

Quality schools require both good administrative leadership and strong community support.  Dr. Johnson previously stated, “It takes the whole team.  It’s not about me coming in and doing.  It’s a team effort.”

Consider This:  Dr. Johnson needs and deserves the support and cooperation of the entire Hattiesburg community.
