HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Department of English at The University of Southern Mississippi hosted a Harry Potter themed camp this week
The theme is "The Fantastic beast," and the group invited kids to use their imaginations to create their own creatures for their very own encyclopedia of monsters.
The kids also got to play Quidditch outside every day and were excited to bring Harry Potter ideas and themes to life.
"It's something I look forward to every year, we get to play a sport that we watch movies about and read about and kind of bring it to life," said camper Kayla Grice.
USM Quidditch Captain Kayla Grice said she loves working with the kids because they have an appreciation for the series.
"It makes it kind of easier, explaining the sport to them actually like 'Yeah you know chasers, and they are like yay Harry Potter,'" said Grice.
The kids also got to create their own comic strips.
