HHDA brings home top awards at Main Street meet

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Association has been recognized for several outstanding projects by the Mississippi Main Street Association.

The group got four awards Thursday at the association's annual meeting and luncheon in Jackson.

Hattiesburg's Craft Beer Fest won best Creative New Event, while the Hub City Lofts won best historic rehabilitation project.

And Southern Prohibition Brewery won for best Economic Impact Project.

"It really shows that Hattiesburg is forward-thinking, we are progressive and we're getting things done," said Andrea Saffle, executive director of the Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Association. "And I think it just shows the rest of the state not to take Hattiesburg for granted."

Former HHDA board president Sarah Newton also won a Main Street Hero Award.
