Lamar Co. deputies execute auto burglary round-up, 4 charged

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Lamar County Sheriff's Department executed an auto burglary round-up Tuesday night that resulted in the arrests of four suspects.

According to Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel, the arrests are linked to 12 auto burglaries spanning over three weeks in The Kings Mill, Audubon Hills and Madison Hills neighborhoods.

One suspect, Lacurtis Sandquarriees Floyd, 21 of Hattiesburg, was taken into custody at 11:30 p.m.

He has been charged with two counts of auto burglary.

The second suspect, Nickalus Rudarll Locke, 19 of Hattiesburg, was taken into custody at 1:30 a.m.

He was charged with six counts of auto burglary.

Two 16-year-old females were also linked to the burglaries, but will be charged through Youth Court.

Because the girls are juveniles, we cannot report their identities.

Rigel said that most of the stolen property has been recovered. Items stolen from the cars range from guns, computers to personal items.

Rigel also said the arrests were credited to good team work between the patrol officers and investigators.

"Because of a really good concentrated investigation, it culminated to these arrests," Rigel said.

Rigel stressed that all of these burglaries could have been prevented had the cars involved been locked.

"Please lock your cars and don't leave valuables in the open," said Rigel. "We keep saying that time and time again, but these individuals are creatures of habit. If they see an unlocked car, they will go in. Don't make it easy for them."
