USM Chick-fil-A, Starbucks getting summer makeovers

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Here's some good news for students at The University of Southern Mississippi who need that special morning cup of Joe or their favorite chicken sandwich on campus.

The Chick-fil-A at the Union and the Starbucks at the Cook Library are being renovated this summer.

They are closed for now, but will re-open in time for fall classes.

John Meyer, general manager of Eagle Dining, said extra cash registers are being added at the restaurant, while the coffee shop is getting a whole new look.

"It is a little bit painful for those who are still on campus, because they do love Chick-fil-A and Starbucks, so we wanted to appease them and we have opened other locations that normally aren't open during the summer to provide breakfast and coffee and things like that," he said.

Meyer says both locations are more than 10 years old.
