BAY SPRINGS, MS (WDAM) -

A Blue Star Memorial Bi-Way marker was dedicated on the grounds of the Jasper County courthouse Wednesday morning.

The Bi-Way marker was presented by ladies of The Bay Tree Garden Club of Bay Springs. The "blue star" (for which it's named) stands for hope and pride. It signifies the dedication to service by all of the the men and women in the armed forces past, present and future.

It makes me feel very blessed and very patriotic," said Edna Earl Sims, president of the Bay Tree Garden Club. "We're just so thankful to have all of this group to be here with us to participate in remembering those who died that we might be free."

The special guest speaker at the ceremony was Brig. Gen. Robert Thomas.

Today there are over 3,000 of these markers across the United States.
