Chief Deputy Charles Bolton replaced on FGH board

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - During a Monday morning meeting, the Forrest Co. Board of Supervisors unanimously appointed Kate Aseme to Chief Deputy Charles Bolton's position on the Forrest General Hospital Board of Trustees.

His term was set to expire Monday.

Bolton's place on the Forrest General Hospital board came under fire after he and his wife, Linda Bolton, were served a 10-count indictment in federal court for tax evasion in late March.

According to the multi-count indictment on March 23, Charles and Linda,

"...did willfully attempt to evade and defeat a large part of the income tax due and owning by defendants to the United States of America by, among other things, preparing and causing to be prepared, and by signing and causing to be signed, a false and fraudulent joint U.S. Individual Income Tax Return, Form 1040, on behalf of defendants, which was filed with the IRS."

The indictment also said that they both attempted to evade the assessment of their income tax by cashing tens of thousands of dollars in checks issued in payment for liquor, wine and catering services to prevent those payments from being recorded on their business bank statements.
