A Lamar County man was hospitalized Sunday evening after a shooting in Lamar County.

The incident occurred just after 4 p.m. off West 4th Street near the intersection of Mary Circle and West Ray Drive

"A guy in his mid 20s was shot one time in the chest," said Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel. "The victim said that three males came to his yard and shot him in the chest."

"After the shooting, the victim jumped in the car with the three suspects, they then fled from the car and the victim drove himself to Merit Health Wesley," said Rigel.

Rigel said the victims injury appears to be non-life threatening and he is in stable condition.

The vehicle that was recovered was a Gray Nissan Versa with Georgia plates.
