One charged in Sandersville shooting

SANDERSVILLE, MS (WDAM) -

Sandersville Police have charged a woman for a shooting that occurred Saturday morning.

The  incident took place at a residence on the 500 block of Pine Street at roughly 10 a.m., according to Asst. Chief of SPD Scott Gable.

An altercation occurred between a man and woman when the woman allegedly shot the man in the chest with a .38-caliber pistol.

The woman, Hailey Boyd, 21, is in custody and charged with one count of aggravated domestic assault. The victim, whose identity has yet to be released, has been sent to the hospital to be treated.

    Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
