JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Folks looking for a job had the opportunity to attend the Governor's Job Fair in Jones County Thursday.
About two dozen employers were on hand in Laurel looking to fill all sorts of positions.
These job fairs are free of charge and held all across the state.
"I am a public relations specialist who is looking to do something in my field," said Katherine Parker, a job seeker at the fair. "The statistics for a person graduating and working in their field is roughly about four years after graduation. So hopefully I can expedite that process a little faster by coming to the job fair."
Organizers estimated 300 people attended Thursday's event.
"One of these events can really help an individual see specifically where they may lack something that is preventing them from receiving or getting the type of job that they are looking for," said Adam Todd with the Governor's Job Fair Network.
The Governors Job Fair Network holds about 30 of these per year.
