HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles baseball team left Hattiesburg for Tallahassee Wednesday morning en route to the NCAA Regional Tournament.

The Golden Eagles earned a spot in the tournament after winning the Conference USA tournament on Sunday.

Superfan and “To the Top Talk” podcast host Jamie Arrington was confident when speaking about the team’s chances.

“You got a very talented team. One of the most talented teams we’ve had probably since around the 2010 season. So it’s really good to see them back in the mix for regionals,” Arrington said.

Arrington also said the impact of the team has made and how it has affected the community.

“Having the conference tournament here and being able to win it, and the economic impact of bringing in all those people, all those fans, and all those other teams the town has had, it’s affected everybody,” Arrington said.

The Golden Eagles will play on Saturday against South Alabama.
