HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

FestivalSouth kicked off this week with FestivalSpeaks, which is an informal talk session featuring actor Gary Grubbs and his wife and artist, Glenda Grubbs.

The two spoke about their experiences in a Q & A format called, “From Hattiesburg to Hollywood.”

"A lot of people don't know how you succeed in that,” Glenda Grubbs said. “And it is a very difficult business to succeed in. I am very blessed to be able to get up every day and do something creative that I truly love and it's just a part of who I am now."

Gary Grubbs, "How it works, the truth about how it works and some of the misconceptions. Hopefully we will be able to impart some knowledge to people who are thinking that they want to go to Hollywood. We're just going to tell our story about why we left and we were supportive of each other and how we made it work."

The music portion of FestivalSouth begins on Saturday with Soul School at the Saenger Theatre.

FestivalSouth runs May 30 through June 18.
