HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A pair of Hattiesburg men are behind bars in connection to an armed carjacking in the Hub City.

Alonzo Strickland, 27, and Tevon Gaddis, 24, were arrested Friday.

“A man was driving near East 7th and New Orleans Street around midnight Thursday when he was approached by four to five black males with a handgun,” Hattiesburg Police Lt. Jon Traxler said.

According to Traxler, the driver was assaulted and the individuals took the vehicle.

“The victim recognized one of the men and was able to identify him to officers," Traxler said. "Two men were later found with the vehicle and taken into custody."

Strickland and Gaddis were booked into the Forrest County Jail and charged with armed carjacking.

The investigation is ongoing, and other arrests are pending.
